What a crazy random happenstance.

Since you’ve vowed to watch musicals at least twice a month I thought I would present to you a musical which I doubt made your list: Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. You can find it on Netflix and if I’m not mistaken also in YouTube.

It stars Neil Patrick Harris – and everyone loves NPH – as Dr. Horrible also known as Billy. He has a Ph.D. in horribleness and don’t you forget about it. It also stars Nathan Fillion as Captain Hammer and the ever adorable Internet Queen Felicia Day as Penny, the girl Billy has a crush. Simon Helberg has an awesome cameo as Moist Dr. Horrible’s “evil moisture buddy” and a Horse as Bad Horse the leader of the Evil League of Evil.

We all feel like this as some point, right?

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is 42 minutes of great musical. It has romance, angst, fear, comedic elements and everything else on the emotional spectrum. It has has great and very witty dialogue, but what else do you expect from Joss Whedon. The songs are easy to sing along to and they are delivered with pizzazz. It is hard for me to pick a favourite, but I think I’m going to have to go with A Brand New Day in which Dr. Horrible really starts to embrace his horribleness. It also features Dr. Horrible doing his awesome finger trick that I in vain have tried to duplicate for years.

Captain Hammer is also quite funny and he gets to do horrible penis jokes and be a all around corny hero. He does have some issues with public speaking, though.

And quite suddenly this quick little Diana-you-have-to-watch-Dr.-Horrible turned out to contain multiple gifs, a YouTube video and several text blocks. Oh, well. I really hope you decided to watch it, since it is short and sweet – until it breaks your heart – and certainly qualifies as a musical.
