I was thinking about doing the seven deadly sins, but I think we got enough morbidity with the nine circles of hell post, so I think I’ll dedicate today’s countdown post to the seven dwarfs which seems fitting since there are two Snow White movies coming out this year. Snow White and the Huntsman and Mirror Mirror.
Did I ever tell you about the time I played Grumpy in the school play? I was awesome. I stood in a corner and looked very grump while playing my cardboard piano and watched the other six dwarfs dance with Little Red Riding Hood. And no, I’m not mixing up my fairy tales. We wrote the play ourselves and it was called Little Red Riding Hood in the Fairy Tale Forest.
Back to the dwarfs. In the original Brother’s Grimm fairy tale they do not have any names and in the different adaption to come since they have many different names.
In a 1912 play they are called Blick, Flick, Glick, Snick, Plick, Whick and Quee. While in the now classic Disney movie they are called Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy and Dopey. And in Snow White and the Huntsman they will be called Caesar, Nero, Constantine, Claudius, Hadrian, Tiberius, Trajun and Gus.
